The 18th running of the Irish Oaks was held on Wednesday 24th July 1912 over 1 mile of The Curragh, starting at the Madrid Post. A pot of 300 sovereigns was availble, 20 sovereigns to the second and 10 sovereigns to the third. The winner was owned by Mr Galstaun, trained by J J Parkinson at Maddenstown Lodge, Curragh, and ridden by J Thompson. The winner won by 3 lengths in 1 minute 49.4 seconds, with a head between second and third.

RACE REPORT

The field arrived at the start early and were released on time. The well-fancied favourite Shining Way cut out the early running, setting such a strong gallop that none could stay with her. She made all and won in a canter by 3 lengths, with a head between Little Fairy and Whistling Duck.
